bye bye bye

Bye weeks are a thing of the past in NFL betting starting in week 11, as there will be a full 16-game card this week for the first time since week three.

NFL betting kicks off on Thursday with an interesting battle of SU winning teams. Chicago outscored Minnesota at home last week, while Miami did the same with Tennessee, but at a heavy price, as QB Henne and Pennington missed the entire season. However, they are still favored by 1.5 points on the betting line as Tyler Thigpen (remember him from KC) starts for a Dolphins team that is 1-3 SU/ATS at home.

Sunday has several featured games. One is Green Bay in Minnesota as Rodgers and the Packers look to put the final nail in Brett Favre’s coffin. Green Bay is out of its bye week and is favored by three on the road. Note that the Vikings outscored the Pack in a Week 7 loss at Lambeau.

The best 4:00 and game is New England at Indianapolis in a revamp of the old Tom Brady vs. The rivalry of Peyton Manning. The total for this matchup is very high at 50.5 points, while the Colts are the favorites by three. This will be the 11th time since 2003 that these two AFC powerhouses have met with Indy winning five of the last six after losing the previous four. You might remember last year’s wild 35-34 game where Patriots head coach Bill Belichick decided to try it on a 4th and 2 from his own 21-yard line with only a few minutes left! His team didn’t make it, allowing Manning and company a shortstop, which they used to score the game-winning touchdown.

Sunday night brings an excellent matchup in the NFC East with the Giants taking on the Eagles. What a comeback it has been for Philly QB Vick, who had more than 400 total yards and six touchdowns in a 59-28 win over Washington on Monday night. His team has opened as a favorite by three points. Note that the G-Men have passed each other in four straight games, while the Eagles have done the same five times in a row.

Monday night’s game is a regular matchup with the Broncos at the Chargers. San Diego, out of its bye week, is a prohibitive 9.5-point favorite. The Lightning Bolts are 6-2 SU/ATS vs. their division rivals the past four seasons with one loss at the Ed Hochuli game and the other here in San Diego last year on a Monday night.
