Content marketing is the new article marketing

What is happening with article marketing? I think it’s just as powerful as it used to be, but now it’s part of a much larger dynamic that we call content marketing. You see, when I started article marketing, I could completely dominate Google just by doing it. It would provide the content Google wanted, it provided the links they wanted, and you could do just about anything you wanted with pagerank and search page rankings on volume alone.

Now, Google has done what I predicted years ago: it filtered out the duplicate content, spam, and duplicate content that became so popular because of the ease of using am to dominate Google. So when I wrote articles, I built it to survive Google’s final cut in old style article marketing.

And now that they’ve finally filtered out the bad results from article-based search results (what some are calling the Panda update, though there are likely to be many more algorithmic changes that affect the brute manipulation of spammy search rankings). and article writing on anti-Google policies), article marketing can ONLY be done the way I taught, which is solid content, original content, don’t submit the same content to multiple directories except in one specific case.

What Google is looking for now is content. original content. And now I think content marketing is 10 times more important than it was when I started ranking on Google. I was one of the first to push content as a way to get consistent traffic from Google, and I predicted that Google would filter out spam over time, and that’s one of the reasons I built my business that way. Now, it’s essential for everyone who wants traffic from Google. So I think it’s 10 times more important, and I think the demand will be 10 times higher now than when I started teaching article marketing.

Whereas before, articles could be used to control search rankings, now things are a bit more complicated. The principles are the same, but the approach is more along the lines of what most people call content marketing. I think it will become the backbone of SEO, just as for years article marketing was a fundamental piece of SEO (although, technically, it was link building that was the backbone of manipulating search rankings).
