Launch review for Samsung Galaxy Note 7

Samsung is a world-renowned multinational company headquartered in Seoul, South Korea. The company has several different product verticals that share the same brand name globally.

Samsung was founded in 1938 and entered the electronics industry in the late 1960s. Since the 1990s, the company’s main source of revenue has come from its electronics vertical, which comprises mobile phones and semiconductors.

Samsung Electronics is the largest subsidiary of the parent company and was the world’s largest IT company in calendar year 2012 ranking No. 4 in terms of market capitalization.

Parent company Samsung has always been a powerful regional power that influences much of South Korea’s economy, political dynamics and social culture. Samsung’s total revenue figures represent about 17% of the country’s total GDP.

Samsung Telecommunications is a major business unit within Samsung Electronics and offers service product lines including mobile phones, MP3 players, laptops, etc.

The post-2007 time frame has been phenomenal for Samsung Telecommunication’s mobile phone vertical, driving a 40% growth rate. Soon, it became the second largest mobile device manufacturer in the world after Apple Inc.

Currently, Samsung is the leading manufacturer of smartphones running the Google Android mobile operating system with a global market share of 46%.

Samsung Telecommunication’s latest offering is the smartphone model, Samsung Galaxy Note 7. In India, the Samsung Note 7 was launched amid much fanfare in August 2016.

As for the screen, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 comes with a 5.7-inch capacitive touch screen that offers a sharp and smooth resolution of 1440×2560 pixels with a PPI measurement of 518.

The processing power of the Galaxy Note 7 is delivered through an Exynos 8890 octa-core processor clocked at 1.6 GHz.

The Note 7 ships with 4GB RAM, while internal storage is pegged at 64GB, which is expandable (up to 256GB) via microSD card.

For customers who are not camera shy, the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 is equipped with a 12-megapixel rear camera (with flash) along with a 5-megapixel front camera for selfie lovers.

From a software point of view, the Galaxy Note 7 runs on Android Marshmallow with version 6.0.1.

Battery life is pretty good considering the unit has a 3500mAh equivalent power cell that is naturally non-removable.

The Note 7 has dimensions of 153.50 x 73.90 x 7.90 (height x width x thickness) and the weight is a comfortable 169 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy Note 7 supports a single Nano SIM card and includes a host of modern connectivity tools like Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, NFC, Bluetooth, and GPS, etc.

The sensors built into the Galaxy Note 7 cover proximity, ambient light, accelerometer, and gyroscope. Audio headphones are compatible with the Galaxy Note 7 via a 3.5mm jack.

The Galaxy Note 7 is available in a range of vibrant colors like blue, gold, silver, and black.

The Note 7 will also have compatibility with a range of Samsung accessories like Smart Watch, wireless headphones, etc.

Potential customers can now place confirmed orders through major e-commerce platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, and Snapdeal.

The launch of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 further cements Samsung Electronics’ position as a strong rival in the intensely competitive global smartphone market.
