Make the best laundry room

Have you ever thought about counting how many weeks you are stuck in that boring laundry room of yours with the endless piles of clothes that need to be washed and dried? If you’re like most of us, a day never goes by without having to do at least one load of laundry. Since this is the case, have you ever thought about giving your laundry room a makeover to make it pleasing to your eyes and taste? At least if you’re in a room you like to be in, the chore of laundry will bring your joy back.

Just close your eyes and think happy thoughts and what pleases your eyes the most. Do you love the roar of the sea and beautiful beach scenes or do you like vintage cars? Remember, you don’t have to decorate this room like the rest of your house. Choose a theme for your clothing, and then carry it throughout the room, whether it’s a tropical or vintage theme. How about a certain color, is it red or pastel yellow? Do what you like.

If you want to choose a vintage theme for your laundry place, think about what kind of things they used when doing laundry. Maybe you could start by going to the flea markets and see if you can pick up some old washboards and detergent boxes. You can also get some vintage irons to add to the mix. You may want to add an old painting or two depending on the size of the room. What kinds of things can you do to give the room a cheerful look? Decorate some of your shelves with weathered baskets and greenery. Try to get a rug that matches the paint on the walls or blends in with the “gadgets” you’ve scattered around the room. If there is a window in your laundry room, make sure it gives off enough light for you.

If you prefer not to go with a decorating theme for the room, you can easily bring it to life by choosing paint colors on the walls, painting or updating your cabinets, using artwork and flowers around the room, and upgrading the flooring. Make sure it won’t matter if something spills on the floor. Laminate and vinyl flooring and ceramic tile are good flooring options.

If you want to get creative and paint it, you can try painting just one wall and leaving the other walls a neutral color. If you paint your laundry room with bright colors, they will reflect off the clothes and it will be difficult to see the stains. You don’t want your family walking around like spotted leopards now, do you?

One of the best ways to get along with this room is to keep it well organized so you know where everything is—laundry detergents, water softeners, and stain removers.

Remember, this room is what YOU make of it. Let your creative ingenuity flow for you to have the most unique laundromat on your block!
