Real estate letters: direct mail campaigns keep working

If online marketing is so hot, why do agents still send real estate letters? Well, in a word or two … it’s because direct mail marketing still works!

If you are an agent, you need to market your services. You won’t get any business if people don’t know you’re in business … and a multi-pronged approach is possibly the best approach. For example, networking, handing out business cards, and distributing brochures will benefit you.

And while sending real estate letters isn’t as glamorous or engaging as internet marketing, it can be an integral component of your marketing plan. People still like to receive mail delivered by the postal service, despite being bombarded with more junk mail than they would like to receive; so why not give them what they want?

There are other advantages to sending real estate letters, but in this article I will only address three of them; decreased workload, residual benefits and increased income. Let’s take a closer look at each one to see how they can benefit you.

One. Reduced workload – This should be obvious, as once you have written a letter, you can mass mail it until your heart is happy. Also, with just a little imagination, you can take one letter and generate dozens of other letters from it. Once you’ve done the job once, you can reap the benefits while you’re in business.

Two. Residual payments – One thing about letters is that they can sit in a person’s home for weeks before you can answer them. And that’s okay, because they still have longer lifespan than a phone call, which can be forgotten as soon as the call ends. In fact, it is quite common for prospects to call months after receiving letters, what I call “long tail marketing.” The point here is not to get discouraged if you don’t get immediate results.

Three. Increased income – Real estate sales and marketing is a numbers game and a direct mail campaign can help you reach out to hundreds of people that you can potentially leverage to generate leads that result in listings and sales. Fifty letters a day five days a week will result in 250 contacts a week. How many leads are you generating right now?

In short, real estate letter marketing campaigns can help you grow your business, generate more leads, get more listings, and earn more commissions.
