Wii, Xbox, PS3 – Which is better?

There seems to be a bit of a battle for supremacy between the top 3 gaming consoles. Which one is the best is pretty open to opinion and each has its own merits. Tea Wii it has levels of interaction that the others just can’t match, but the availability of the game is a bit limited, while the Xbox 360 Y ps3 they have huge game libraries to choose from. My favorite is the PSP, just because of the size and the portability and the fact that I’m getting a little advanced and can use it while Mrs. watches ‘Gardeners Property Naked Haunted Trinny’ or whatever…

The Xbox 360 comes in three configurations, with the entry level being the Xbox 360 Arcade which has no hard drive. There’s the Xbox 360 Pro (or Premium) which has a 20GB hard drive, an Xbox 360 wireless gamepad, composite AV cables, and combo/composite HDTV cables. The built-in hard drive will allow gamers to save games, sign in to the Xbox Live service, and store data such as photos, music, and downloadable content from the Xbox Live Marketplace. Microsoft added the Xbox 360 Elite to its system offering in 2007. For the higher price, you’ll get a black Xbox 360 system with a 120GB hard drive. The Elite bundle includes HDMI, component, and composite AV cables, as well as matching black headsets and wireless gamepad accessories.

Xbox’s closest real rival of the top four is the Sony PlayStation 3 (or PS3), which comes with a choice of 40gb or 80gb hard drives. The 40gb model can play PS1 games but strangely enough it can’t run PS2 stuff, while the 80gb model can play both. However, it is quite a bit more expensive than the Xbox. Part of the reason is that Sony decided to include a Blu-Ray drive in the system. The drive can play standard Blu-ray and DVD movies.

Microsoft was able to take an early lead in the battle by releasing the Xbox 360 a year before the PlayStation 3. This lead made it easier to woo third-party developers to create games for the 360, although games now tend to be released for both platforms simultaneously.

The Wii is a completely different ballgame and provides a much more interactive experience. It’s not as powerful as its two main rivals, but it does have a unique motion-sensing controller, the ‘WiiMote’. This device allows you to play various games, including tennis, by replicating the movements as if you were actually playing the sport, or if you were swinging a sword in an RPG, you move the controller in the same way. This has made the Wii one of the most popular consoles on the market, but the DVD drive only plays games, you can’t use it for movies. This has not affected the popularity with a huge shortage due to high demand and shortages during Christmas 2007.

Xbox and PS3 games look very similar to each other, but the same Wii games can look very different. Wii’s processor runs at 729 MHz, while Xbox and PS3 run PowerPC at 3.2 GHz, which is considerably faster.

If you want high-definition gaming, the Xbox and PS3 have it perfect, but for me, what the Wii lacks in power, it makes up for in sheer fun and in-game interactivity.
