Long Distance Relationships vs. Short Distance Relationships

What is the difference between these two relationships? Short distance relationships are right there in your face all the time. You don’t have to call them to talk to or see them, they can be there in just a few minutes walking, driving or biking. The man or woman does not have to travel so far to see you all the time.

They may have to go a couple of miles, but not that much. The man and the woman can date and have fun together by going bowling or to the movies. With all this for the short distance relationship, there are also flaws. The man or woman can still cheat on their boyfriend or girlfriend right under their noses and they will find out much sooner than with a long distance relationship. They can still make you cry and hurt just like a long distance relationship can and sometimes does.

In many relationships it is difficult to deal with loving someone so much that it hurts or makes you want to cry. Most ask questions before starting a relationship. They might wonder if this is the right person to be with right now. Will I be happy with this man or this woman? Can I afford to be happy with them? Will I get hurt? Will I hurt them if I get into this relationship? The same applies in a long distance relationship only with a greater distance.

Long distance relationships are more difficult to maintain, it takes the willpower of both people to maintain them. It takes determination, hard work, and a lot of love between the two of you to make the estranged relationship work so well. Working on a long distance relationship requires a lot of willpower and a lot of love. You still ask yourself all the questions you do with short distance relationships, but you also ask yourself more than those basic questions.

Questions like: Can they wait for me if they really love me? Can they love me from so far? How will it work if we’re so far apart? Those are just a few questions that go through a person’s mind when he thinks about having a long distance relationship. Yes, both types are difficult relationships to maintain, but there are also the facts that the shorter the distance, the easier it really is because with short distances, the less you can see each other when you want to.

They don’t have to wait hours and hours to see each other or drive a long distance to get to each other. Long-distance relationships take more work to keep them going. They use the phone on the internet and text messages on the phones back and forth just to keep the relationship in touch with each other. The most important thing about a long distance relationship is that people must trust each other not to cheat or hurt each other while they are not face to face. So there is an advantage to both relationships, both can succeed and the downside is that both can fail, you never know.
