7 Reasons Why Adsense Stats Are Killing Your Business And How You Can Rescue Your Income

Google AdSense has to be the best thing for doing business online since the invention of the internet. The service has allowed average people and large corporations to earn a very decent income online with very little hassle. Put a little effort into creating a decent site that gets a little bit of traffic and you can be in the money. Build better sites with more traffic and you can really make money.

However, the key to the success of any business is being able to track where your business comes from and how you interact with your websites. Unfortunately, the statistics that Google provides you on your AdSense account are VERY weak. In fact, they provide just enough information to make it seem like you’re really getting all the information you need to be successful. Unfortunately, that is not true.

In fact, relying on Google AdSense statistics could very well be killing your business. Hey, don’t get me wrong. I am absolutely NOT accusing Google of doing anything wrong, far from it. However, the information they provide is not enough to enable you to make informed decisions about how to develop your web business in the way that is most profitable for you. Here are some of the top reasons why relying on Google AdSense statistics could be a critical business mistake. At the end of the article, we provide an explanation of what you can do to ‘rescue’ yourself from the AdSense statistics disaster.

These are some of the critical elements that are missing from the Google AdSense statistics.

1) They provide only vague information.

Statistics only show page impressions or numbers of ads loaded on a site. To get any kind of accurate information, you need to set up channels for EVERY ad unit you display on EVERY page of EVERY site. Not likely.

2) They update very slowly

While it is getting faster, the stats are still lagging. If you run a high-traffic site and want to test a change that turns out bad, you could lose hundreds of dollars in the hours it takes for Google stats to update.

3) YOU HAVE NO IDEA which pages are generating revenue and which are not.

– Like I said before, yes, you can have channels for specific pages, but if you have a site with more than a few dozen pages, it becomes a HUGE hassle, and if you have multiple sites with several hundred pages each… well, it just doesn’t work. So you’re spending hours and money getting traffic to certain sections of your site, but you have no real idea if that section is actually generating revenue without resorting to clunky channel system.

4) You have NO WAY OF KNOWING which ads are being clicked.

Let’s face it, you want people to click the ads that pay you the most, not the ones that pay 0.05/click. But you can’t get this information from your AdSense statistics. Without this information, how can you possibly “block” low-paying ads from showing on your site with your AdSense “competitor” block list? And if you don’t block them… well, Google has to show the ads to someone, and they’ll be happy to send you the 0.05 c/click ads.

5) It is IMPOSSIBLE to KNOW where your traffic is coming from and what it is doing on your site.

– Sure you can see your web stats, but there’s absolutely no way to match that up with your AdSense stats. Maybe your stats show that you’re getting a lot of referral traffic from http://www.somedomain.com, but how can you tell if your ads are actually being clicked? If they’re not, that traffic really isn’t worth anything.

6) Visitor behavior is unknown.

You have no way of knowing if your AdSense revenue comes from a few active visitors clicking multiple ads across multiple pages, or from just one click from each visitor. Why does this matter? Well, if only 1% of your visitors actually click on an ad (but they click a lot), you have to ‘convince’ 99% of your visitors to click on at least something.

7) Relevance of the content of your pages.

Are your pages displaying as many ads as possible, or is your content not ‘relevant enough’ to qualify for full ad quota display? You MUST know this information. The less relevant your content is, it means that Google will send you fewer ads, or PSA ads just to fill space. You’re not going to make much from PSAs (actually, you’re going to make NOTHING).

There are other reasons why Google AdSense statistics just aren’t enough, but I think the above 7 should be enough to make the point. Trust Google statistics for your own account.

This is not the right place to go into a detailed explanation of how to fix this cash killing problem. However, it is not that difficult to solve all these problems and more that arise depending on the Google AdSense statistics. In a nutshell, all it takes is adding a little piece of code to your web pages that pulls in the extra essential information you need to be able to properly and accurately track your AdSense earnings. Having this vital information in your hands will allow you to see exactly what you need to do to make a dramatic change in your AdSense earnings.
