Jane Iredale Amazing Base Vs Pure Pressed – What’s the difference?

So what is the difference between Jane Iredale Amazing Base and Jane Iredale Purepressed?

Both are high-quality mineral makeup with mostly natural ingredients that are endorsed by most dermatologists. And both have SPF sun protection, and both are buildable, adaptable products that can double as concealers when mixed with liquid mineral makeup. This article lists the differences that can help you decide which one is best for you.

loose powder vs. Held down.

Amazing Base by nature is loose mineral powder, which means the texture you get from the product is bigger, thicker, and tends to spread all over the place as the powder doesn’t stick as well. Purepressed is finely ground into smaller particles and therefore retains a cleanliness as the powder is pressed and dense. Due to this difference in manufacturing, both have a different effect on the skin and require different application strategies.

The end:

Purepressed tends to be more matte than Amazing Base. However, over-applying will result in an ashy, chalky face that can lead to added shine if skin oils come out during the day. So be careful: be very light with sheer pressure!

Amazing Base has more shine than purepressed. Even though this may require an oil slick, it actually looks like beautiful, glowing, dewy skin if applied correctly.

Since the finish of both is different, it completely depends on the effect you are going for.

The color:

Color wise, Amazing Base loose powder is much darker than Purepressed. So if you are choosing to switch from loose powder to pressed powder or vice versa, remember that the color combination will be different. A general rule of thumb is that Amazing Base is about two steps darker than Purepressed.

Be sure to do a color test for both products at cosmetic stores before purchasing! It would be a shame to throw money down the drain on high-quality makeup that doesn’t match your skin tone.

The Dusty Mess, Clean Factor:

The mess you have to deal with is also different. Compact powder is easier to travel with—you hardly have to deal with the dusty residue that comes from applying it. Loose powder by nature is messy. So if you want to carry your compact without having to deal with the fuss, the Purepressed comes highly recommended.

The application:

Both Amazing Base and PurePressed have their own application techniques and specific brushes that you should use for the best effect. Even the best makeup can be horrible if you don’t know how to use it! As much as we dream of instant beauty in 5 minutes, making makeup work for you takes exactly that… work!
