Earn a quick profit online

Is it possible to make quick profits on the Internet? I am hesitant to mention this method as it has to be done with care, but if followed with a good understanding of the principles involved it is certainly capable of paying off well for those who know how to “play the game”.

Normally, this marketing strategy would be done alongside article submissions, free SEO traffic, etc., but this takes time to develop. A faster method of generating AdSense income is to use Pay Per Click (PPC).

Using a form of traffic arbitrage, low cost keywords are bid on Google and some of the other PPC search engines. They are targeted to higher paying AdSense pages. Of course, the pages that receive the traffic must be carefully configured so that they attract the highest paying AdSense ads.

The downside is that you have to pay for PPC traffic, but it can be tested as you go and closely monitored. Google allows you to set a budget.

Several key factors in particular need to be considered from the outset:

1. High paying keywords.

Although you may have a strong interest in South American parrots, that does not mean that the population browsing the Internet shares this interest, at least to the point of being willing to click on ads offering products and services on this topic. So be sure to check if your interest is likely to produce AdSense ads that pay well per click. For example, if you’re paying 5 cents per click to get visitors and you’re only getting, say, 10 cents per click on an AdSense ad, you’re not likely to do well financially. Only a small percentage of visitors (say 5%) to your site will click on an ad.

2. Succession.

The keywords recognized by Google as most relevant to your web page influence the selection of the ad that actually appears there. So it’s wise to choose content with high-paying keywords if you want to show high-paying ads.

You also need to make sure that BOTH the ads and the content are relevant to your visitors. This deserves careful consideration. Your PPC promotion could be targeted, for example, at those interested in dog training. This does not mean that dog breeding advertisements are of interest to those visitors; they are probably more concerned with the dog’s daily behavior. For example, obedience training, house training, how to stop barking, fighting, digging, etc.

Essentially, you’re optimizing for AdSense, choosing keywords with a fairly high level of competition, rather than free traffic from search engines (which generally require much less competition to attract), although the two work together. By bidding on keywords with PPC (actually buying your traffic), you will choose keywords (including synonyms and related words) that will attract the type of traffic you expect to be interested in the AdSense ads that will appear on your Web Page. If the connection is too remote, they will just move on.

Your web page should be relevant to both visitors and the AdSense program that selects the ads to appear. Do not underestimate the importance of this factor.

3. Low cost keywords.

If you are paying the same price for keywords that you are getting from Adsense clicks, then you are losing, not making a profit. You can expect only about 5% of visitors to click on one of the ads on your web page, so you’ll need to attract a lot of cheap traffic. Using Pay Per Click (PPC), such as AdWords (Google), you may be able to find related terms. For example, instead of “dog,” take a look at “dog,” “puppy,” or specific animals, such as “Labrador.”

Plus, Google isn’t the only store in town. There are other search engines that charge much less for closely related keywords. They don’t have the same volume of traffic, but everything helps. Alternatives include FindWhat, Ah-Ha, and Brainfox for starters.

4. Advertising Tracking.

When you use multiple sources of advertising to drive traffic to your website, some will prove to be more useful, profitable, than others. It’s crucial that you know which fonts work for you and which ones are just costing you money. There are several commercial ad tracking services available. There are also some free scripts offered from time to time with major giveaway joint ventures.

Another way to keep track of your traffic sources is to have a separate landing page for each source. If you have good website reports, the statistics provided by your web host will indicate which search engines are sending you traffic.

Typically, if set up without time pressures, combining it with free traffic from feed pages (articles) will lower your average cost per visitor, allowing for a profit margin.

Although you have to do it carefully. For example, you need to make sure that pages with AdSense attract high-paying ads. You can’t just put websites up anyhow without checking beforehand if this is likely to happen.

Remember, if you are setting up niche websites that are optimized for search engines, with the goal of generating free traffic, you will naturally look for “undiscovered” niches that are relatively less competitive so that you can rank well with search engines.

However, if you’re using PPC, you actually WANT a fair (but not excessive) amount of competition for your keywords in the hope that your AdSense ads will pay well when visitors click on them. You will spend much of your time searching for low-cost alternative sources and keywords that you can use to drive traffic to your web pages.
