Niagara Falls – Magnificence of Nature

Niagara Falls is one of the most magnificent and massive waterfalls situated on the Niagara River. This separates the international border from the Canadian province of Ontario and the US state of New York. This fall is considered one of the most powerful in the world with more than a million gallons of water per second. This majestic fall is located about seventeen miles from Buffalo, New York, and just seventy-five miles southeast of Toronto, Ontario.

It is separated in two by Goat Island. This impressive fall consists of three falls known as American Falls, Horseshoe and Bridal Veil Falls. The fall on the Canadian side of the border is known as Horseshoe Falls, while the fall on the United States side is known as American Falls. A smaller drop known as a bridal veil drop can also be found on the American side. This fall is separated by Moon Island from Niagara Falls.

It is the result of the Wisconsin ice age period that ended about nine thousand years ago. During this time, several lakes and rivers were formed due to the slow movement of various glaciers.

The city is also known as the “Honeymoon Cities” as it is one of the favorite destinations for newlywed couples. The best time to visit in the fall is during the summer, as all of the attractions in the area are open to visitors during the season. Weekdays are generally uncrowded, while weekends are very crowded and should be avoided. The winters are also quite exotic and spectacular as the river below the falls freezes over and offers some splendid views.
